A Week in Literary HistoryDecember 22nd, 2002 In 1869, American poet Edwin Arlington Robinson (The Man Against the Sky, 1916) is born in Head Tide, Me.
Robinson is the most old-fashioned of famous twentieth-century poets, and unique in the sense that from his forties on, he was a professional poet, spending his summers at the MacDowell Colony and the rest of the year in New York City.
